Origin: Muffed in Saxony, clean leg in Thuringia.

Overall Impression: Strong, Iow standing field pigeon type; muffed and plain headed or shell crested; clean legged and plain headed.

Breed Characteristics:

Head: Oval, arched, forehead medium high; muffed plain headed or with a wide, thick shell crest ending on each side with rosettes; clean legs are plain headed.

Eyes: Dark; eye cere small, flesh colored to red.

Beak: Long, flesh colored lower beak on blacks and blues.

Neck: Medium length; throat well curved (no gullet).

Breast: Broad, well rounded and carried, forward.

Back: Long. Slightly sloping.

Wings: Long, closed.

Tail: Long, closed, twelve feathers.

Feet and Legs: Low set, well muffed or clean legged.

Feathering: Well developed, expecially on the muffed variety; close tiffing on the clean legged.

Colors: Black, blue, red, and yellow.

Color Markings: Red, yellow, and black intense, blue light with flights as dark as possible. Ground color white; colored areas are the forehead spot, the muffs, twelve to fourteen primary and secondary feathers along with their primary coverts, the thumb feathers and the surrounding small wing shield feathers which, when the wing is closed, form an elongated triangle shape on the bottom edge of the front of the wing; spot not too wide as it extends up the forehead (berry shaped) reaching its highest point on the head above the center of the eyes, but not touching the eye cere on either side.
