Origin: Saxony and Thuringia.

Overall Impression: Somewhat stocky field pigeon form, low standing; muffed or clean legged.

Breed Characteristics

Head: Oval, wider at front of head, plain headed or with a broad, thick free and upright standing shell crest.

Eyes: Orange in color; eye cere small, light to red or dark according to the color variety.

Beak: Thin, medium in length, dark to lustrous black on blues and blacks, flesh colored on reds and yellows.

Neck: Medium length, strong and full at the shoulders; throat well curved (no gullet).

Breast: Broad and low, carried somewhat forward.

Back: Broad at the shoulders, slightly sloping.

Wings: Medium in length and well closed.

Tail: Medium in length, closed, slightly sloping.

Feet and Legs: Short, clean legged or medium to heavily muffed; muffed with well developed hock feathers.

Feathers: Thick and full, tight fitting.

Colors: Black, blue, red, and yellow, all with white bars or spangled.

Colors and Markings: The black, red, and yellow shall be intense and lustrous; the blues are light and even colored. The white barred shall be small, long, and free of rust; black spangled may be with or without finch markings.
