ORIGIN: It is thought that this breed had its
origin in the vicinity of Danzig, Poland in 1807. Other
sources point to the ancient province of Galacia.
HEAD: Narrow, free from ridges. The forehead is
elongated and when seen from a side view the profile
between the beak and the base of the crest is a slightly
ascending straight line. The back of the skull is
slightly arched.
BEAK:
Long and thin in all color varieties. The color of the
beak should be of a pale flesh color. Blacks and blues
sometimes have a stained beak tip which is permissible
in these colors, but preference must be given to a flesh
colored beaked bird if all other features are equal. The
tip of the upper beak should be turned slightly down.
Length of the beak from the tip to the forehead is about
14 mm.
WATTLE: Small, delicate, powdered white in
color.
EYE: Bright pearl in color. Young birds, those
being up to one year old, may appear to have either
lighter or darker eyes. Their eyes may be glassy, milky
or marble colored, but older birds should have the
bright pearl eyes.
CERE: Narrow, bluish white in color.
Crest:
A wide shell crest that wraps completely around the back
of the skull extending from ear to ear. No gaps should
appear in the crest and the crest should merge nicely
into the neck. The crest does not end in rosettes.
Neck:
Medium in length, rather slim with a slight guttural
edge to the breast.
Chest:
Strong and wide.
Shoulders:
Long, slightly hollowed and slightly falling on the
rump.
Wings:
Long, resting nicely on the tail.
Flights
In length the flights should reach the highest point of
the tail.
Tail:
The tail should contain from 14 to 18 long, wide
feathers. The tail is fan-shaped and should not be
elevated.
Legs:
Long and sturdy, red in color and free from feathers
below the hocks. |
